family time

Having the kitchen fitted at weekends has meant we've had to get out of the house to give the guys some space. So on Bank Holiday Monday we went to Caerphilly Castle, to show Alex a 'real' castle. He loved it. Climbing up bits, up steps, shouting 'raaaah' at the top of towers, peeping out of windows down to the lake, walking over the bridge and trying to scare the troll away.....

Caerphilly castle has a leaning tower. It's been like that for a while, but Alex truly believed he could push it back up again, with our help...

On Saturday, we went to Cardiff Museum. I don't really like museums, but I haven't been to this one for a while, and it's always different when you have to see things through the eyes of child, and how to make it interesting for them. He like the room with magnifying glasses in, and things to look at eg bits of wood, stone, fossils etc. He couldn't understand the exhibits with stuffed animals in them 'the birds aren't moving Mummy'. (Mmm, it's dead, but they don't look dead...difficult concept)

And he suddenly discovered his Fireman Sam outift again.
