Rather hectic weekend just had. Roly was, and still is, singing in St Paul's again this week. I decided to brave it all, and go over too, not to sing, but just to be there. We stayed in an excellent hotel in Slough, part of the Innkeeper's Lodge group (breakfast included in the price, unlike Premier Travel Inn). Paid for a double room and took Alex's blow-up-bed with us.
Went in together on Saturday, and met up with Liz King, who lives in London, had an excellent day with her, did the London Aquarium. Sunday, Roly had to be in for 9am to St Paul's, so Alex and I went a litter slower, and made it in for lunchtime, after an interesting journey of train, tube, bus and foot. He fell asleep over the whole Evensong service, so I could at least concentrate on it. Afterwards we heard a fab drumming group in Paternoster Square that Alex wanted to hear. Monday was supposed to be Legoland day, but we reckoned that the queues would probably at their absolute worst on Aug bank hol Monday, so we went to Windsor, saw the castle, had a boat trip, went on the Windsor Eye, and headed back.
