busy week

Roly's been away this week, singing in Westminster Abbey, without Alex and I. It would have been somewhat of a logistical nightmare, as the service doesn't finish till 6pm each night, and between 6 and 7pm is when Alex needs food, but all the singers disappear to a pub and don't eat a meal till at least 9pm or later, and then there would be travelling back to wherever we were staying.... so not really practical at all with a small child.
So, Granny (my mum) came to stay Mon-Fri, to help with Alex, and (cos that's what Grannies do), helped to clean up the house a bit, do some gardening etc.
We went to Roath Park lake on Wednesday morning, and I rowed them round the lake (photos to follow). My uncle came for a visit in the afternoon.

I worked Thu am (just to stop it piling up!), and mum and I went to Duffryn Gardens in the afternoon, where they are busy restoring the house and gardens. It's like lots of little garden rooms, that all interconnect in different ways and you never know what you'll find next. Really lovely, and peaceful too.

Then we rang the removal company on Friday am. Mum has donated her 2 sofas to us, cos she already has a third, and wanted to replace them with a sofa-bed. So she rang a removal company up, who had just done a trip from Swansea to Hexham, and had space on the return trip to collect them from Mum's, along with the tumbledryer from my dad's. We were told it might take up to 10days for them to deliver here, so were a little surprised when they said 'today- between 1-2pm'.!! Eek. They were coming to us, before going back to Swansea, not the original plan. So I spent a frantic hour trying to find somewhere that would take our sofa off us - it's big, a 3 -4 seater, but been damaged somewhat by the cats sharpening their claws on it....grrrrr. Well the Salvation Army are booked to get it now, but not for another week and a half! So Alex has been practising mountaineering over the top of one down onto the other.

Mum went back yesterday, and Roly returns today.
We cycled up to Nanny's house this morning - longest cycle ride with Alex on the back so far. By keeping mostly to the Taff trail, which is flat, I only had to push him up one hill, and the rest was quite easy. Look out nursery - here we come!
